Bars Leaks Valve Seal Oil Consumption Repair Reviews

  1. Has everyone here tried Bar'southward Leak Valve Seal Oil Consumption Repair? my skylark runs great but the spark plug on piston #2 is showing some low-cal oil deposits so I'thou thinking valve seals. I get alittle gray blue smoke in the morn when I start her up and no smoke wile driving. I guess it could exist rings but I haven't done whatever compression check to verify any of this.

I don't have the funds to pull the heads and go a valve task done now and then I thought the Bar's Leak Valve Seal Oil Consumption Repair might buy me some more time. The auto is just drive a couple of times a week and non very far.

The attached photograph shows the plugs, they have some ruby-red paint on them from when I painted the engine. I've since installed new ones. IMG_20180210_104529559.jpg

    Thank you,

    Brad

  2. I would merely do a seafoam handling in the fuel then New plugs again. If it's not smoking while driving so I would not be concerned... The seafoam will clean things up.
  3. Try what Sean said, only as far every bit a "miracle repair in a can" don't do the Confined leaks, information technology may cause more than issues.

Replacing valve seals does not require the heads to be removed.
1973gs and Marker Demko similar this.
  5. Ok, I put some seafoam in the tank and I'll drive information technology effectually and encounter how information technology works.

Briz, is it posable to supervene upon the valve seals at home past a home mechanic or would it exist best to have the seals replaced by someone who'due south done them the style yous suggest?

  6. it's not hard. take the plugs out, which yous already did, get a compression testing gauge, claw information technology upto an air compressor to fill the chamber with air to proceed the valves up. Take i valve spring off at a time, use a magnet or a good magnetic screwdriver to get the keepers, pop the sometime seal off, put the new seal on, bound dorsum on, badda bing. Done. you tin also just shove a agglomeration of paracord
(or similar) into the cylinder when the piston is about halfway downwards, then bring information technology upward as far as it will go, and that volition hold the valves up.
  7. Honestly, it'southward kind of pointless to merely run it through the tank, if you don't utilize information technology in your main brake vacuum or slowly into the carb first.

Its not difficult. Yous'll need a three' piece of shut line. a spring compressor tool. breaker bar with a i i/eight" socket. Remove the valve embrace. remove a spark plug. feed the rope into the hole and then rotate the engine over using the bar and socket. Once the rope is upward against the head information technology will hold the valves closed. use the bound compressor to depress the bound, remove the keepers. Elevator off the spring and and then R&R the seals. Reassemble in rev society. rotate the crank, remove the rope and practice the next one. It will go quick afterwards the starting time couple you practise. heres youtube vid. theres plenty of them out there
  9. If you have Air-conditioning, the box on the firewall gets in the way for cyl's 6 and eight
  10. Wow! thank you guys for the bang-up suggestions for the valve seal replacement. I really like the idea of using the paracord or shut line in the cylinder and so rotate the motor so the rope moves upward to keep the valves upward. I'm thinking I'll have to remove the rocker arm to get to the valves and valve springs?

I did replace the valve embrace gaskets when I repainted the motor non long ago and have not had any leaks following instructions I got grade this forum. Every thing was pretty make clean with no gunk or sludge and so I felt skilful about that. I experience confident of replacing the valve encompass gaskets over again. Likewise cheers for the video that shows how to use the Seafoam!

I removed al A/C componets from the engine and installed a A/C delete embrace then I have great access to the engine.

Looks like I have some work to do!

    Thank you over again!

    Brad

  11. If SeaFoam is used, what comes out of the tail pipes?
  12. Water and carbon, and you will think you are driving a crop duster for awhile:D The neighbors will dearest you.
  13. Yes, gotta remove the rocker shafts. Don't lose the bolts, exercise one side and one leap at a time and you'll exist aureate. That's a purdy lookin engine!
